Away Bus!! You must be familiar with this phrase if you are a regular commuter or patron of Ghanaian public passenger vehicles popularly called ‘‘Trotro”.

This phrase is probably the only English phrase you will ever hear the driver’s mate of the ‘Trotro’ say to alert his driver to move the bus after parking to pick or drop passengers.

This phrase, however, is shortly going to make waves in our homes and cinemas as it’s the title of a soon to be produced comic movie in Ghana.‘AWAY BUS’ is a movie going to be co-produced and directed by two of Ghana’s movie big wits Kofi Asamoah and Peter Sedufia of KOFAS MEDIA and OLD FILM PRODUCTION respectively.

These two directors have over the years been hailed for their exceptional skills and production. KOFAS MEDIA is known for his popular comedy skit ‘BOYS KASA’, and the highly controversial movie ‘JOHN & JOHN’.OLD FILM PRODUCTION, on the other hand, is producers of the recent FESPACO award-winning movie ‘KETEKE’ and ‘SIDECHIC GANG’.The movie ‘AWAY BUS’ is a comic story of two sisters, who have only 12 hours to raise a substantial amount to save the life of their mother who has taken ill and in a critical condition at the hospital. They eventually robbed the bus, however, just when they were about to jubilate on their loot, they also got robbed by another gang! How worst can it get for these sisters? What will they do next? Let’s keep our fingers crossed. It is a bilingual movie with the aim of giving it a Ghanaian identity through language, clothes, music, and food.Speaking to the media at a press conference organized by both film houses to outdoor their production, Kofi Asamoah indicated that one of the things he believes the Ghana film industry lacks is partnerships or collaboration especially between upcoming film divisions, hence the need for such partnerships like theirs to help the movie industry continue to chalk successes.Peter Sedufia also added that both he and Kofi Asamoah have had a long-standing relationship and are confident, their collaboration is going to bring out the best if not excellent results in this production with their vast knowledge and expertise coming on board. The movie is indeed a star-studded with the cast to be made up of celebrated actors and actresses in the country.

Expect to see the likes of Adjetey Anang, John Dumelo, Mikky Osei Berko, Akrobeto, Kalybos, Omar Krupp, Big Akwes, Yaw Dabo, Abeiku Santana as well as Yvonne Okoro, Lydia Forson, Salma Mumin, Roselyn Ngissah, Ahoufe Patri, Fella Makafui, Moshea Boduong, Rosemond Brown, among many other new arts.According to the directors, it has been a whole year of planning and pre-production of this movie.
